Software to read color negatives...?

Post Fri Apr 18, 2008 7:53 am

I have numerous color negatives from 35mm days. Is there any software that will allow me to scan these and convert them to files of positive images which I can then edit?

Thanks in advance for your help. :D

The software that comes with any scanner that is suitable for scanning film will do a nice job. Most important is that your scanner accepts negatives.

you have probably got it taped by now, but a tiny extra - set everything in scanner software to 'off' or neutral equivalent, as you can do a far better job by hand+brain than the presets when editing. I use Nikon Capture NX2 for this and very pleased with results (it takes any tif or jpg input and more intuitive on recapturing fading and bias than PS). I find 1600ppi worth using, but that may depend on sharpness of originals.
