Can onyone recommend a good personal printer

Post Thu Jan 03, 2008 7:04 am

I gotta say I have a fixation with HP printers because of their cartridges with the integrated head.

I like the look of the Photosmart 7280 because it is a 7 cartridge system.

My basic requirements are this
- must have wifi network built in
- compatible with mac
- does not need to print above A4 as I will go to a shop for these
- reliable-simple-good

I'm in the market as well and thanks for reminding me about the built-in nozzles of the HP offerings, Richard. I'm using the Photosmart 7350 right now but under duress it begins to spit up extra-curricular spots here and there after 4 years or so.

Great photos from it by the way and now I'm wondering why my eye has even thought of turning towards Canon. Maybe I'm looking for a dedicated camera/printer system....who knows.

Whatever the case I'll be keeping my eye on this post. I'd rather have clogged nozzles on a cartridge than the hardware itself any day of the week. Might have to research "clog-ability" with some of these Canons I've been looking at. Leery about the costs of going beyond the 3 cartridges I've been using too......in favor of 5+ cartridges.

You should go to the lab for small prints. Larger prints is where the ink jets cost less if you purchase the right printer. Clogged heads on the newer models are not happening much unless your int a dirty environment or have zero humidity in your home.

On a Epson 3800 depending on paper its cheaper to print 8x10 and up on it versus a lab. Labs have killer prints on smaller prints 5x7 and lower especially 4x6s!

Over 3 years owning a Canon i9900 I can safely say head clogs were rare, and simple cleaning executed from the printers control panel took care of the problem in a jiffy.

I have an HP 8250.fabulous..never had one day of problems..great photo quality. Just bought a HP B8550 for large prints..also great quality prints..I must say I have never owned a pigment ink printer..as I heard the ink dries up fast if not used regularly so I am sticking to HP inkjet. If I need a fine art quality I go to the printer man for $20.00 a print.
