Much thanks to all of you for participating. It is a challenging affair for me to choose. Thank you again. You all are teaching me a lot and I have enjoyed viewing and contemplating your submissions. Here are my choices for today.

Honorable Mention ~ Marisa submitted this strong image of icy weather. The sheer 'intensity' of the freeze makes me shiver looking at it and imagining its density.

Honorable Mention. This capture by Stevemaz wonderfully portrays weather while being a sharp, beautiful scene with vivid colors. Also, the colors and simplicity in the sunrise composition are stunning! Again, I've found it a challenge to choose.

Honorable Mention ~ Paul Russo presented this dramatic capture. The winning aspect for me is the Eagle hugging the treeline. Terrific sighting!

Honorable Mention. Robin Lew has captured a fascinating scene here with the statue appearing to be as alive as the individuals huddling under the umbrellas, avoiding the wind-blown snow. The distance between the statue and the people deepens the grain of my imagination that a prayer is being made for the three to make it to their destination safely.

Honorable Mention. What a stunning composition by Walter Otto Koenig. The depth, angle of view, color, ambiance make this a picture suitable for framing.

Third Place. Ken Zaret captured this scene of fog at sunset and I find its layers, lack of color, rhythm of line, and detail in spite of the weather, a winning photo.

Second Place. This picture captured by Marisa pulls me back again and again to put myself in the scene. The lines, visual rhythms, balance, weather, subdued color, and heavy clouds combine to create a surprisingly pleasing composition; combined with the discomfort of the people weathering the storm.

First Place. It truly was fortunate, I think, that Jola Dziubinska was ready with her camera when the sun found some break in that thick cloud cover; shining on the Parliament Building in Budapest, Hungary. Whew! This picture broadcasting the darkness of the storm and the brilliance of the tenacious sun takes First Place in my mind today!

Thank you for honorable mention.
Congratulations Jola on the winning shot capturing this dramatic ray of sunshine.
By now those dark clouds rolled over Hungarian parliament but that's another story.
