The "Supermoon" but from yesterday when it was much better for natural light & contrast control. The photo will be also shown on the NBC Nightly News this evening, if all goes as planned:

Thanks much, like the article mentions it was one of those rare moments, where a lot of good things come together to make for a nice surprise.
I photographed the moon again last night (perigee Supermoon), but because the moon rose an hour later than on the 22nd there was
simply too much contrast between an extremely bright moon and completely dark, shadowed landscape to get the same kind of shot.

Incredible capture. That moon is huge!! And what a great setting for it. This is your view from where you live?!?

I presume if it's going on NBC, it's for real. No hanky panky with the moon.

It was shot at 600mm, so that helps, plus the moon was 14% larger, though they say "it's visually only the difference between a 12" and 13" pizza," whatever the heck that means...
That's the view from our third story balcony, across the valley towards Italy, which is 17 miles directly east. We live in a hamlet (pop. 15) at 4500' in the Massif des Ecrins
All real, no hanky panky photoschlopp (they can verify that stuff now). Just good luck since those clouds cleared off - usually it's socked in over there.
