Actually I can't take the credit, it's a technique called digiscoping that has been perfected by birdwatchers. After watching with envy what they were able to accomplish, I had to make a decision: A Canon 500L for $6000 and an expensive divorce, or a Zeiss Diascope 85 with 20-60X magnification giving an effective focal length of about 3000mm (35mm equiv) for $1500. My wife approves of my wise decision...
