personaly I prefer these kind of repetitive topic then those called "show us your pet" or the "400mm long focal beach shots of womans in bikini" or other topics where is an avalanche of very bad fotos whitout any sens that makes this forum level is getting lower. The street photography thing is a real aproch to a personal kind of picture and you really have to accept it because it's at his place. If you got a problem whit it just don't klik on it.

You fight somebody posting pictures in a fotografic forum. Try to do beter and stop easy critics.

If this was not a pattern with this particular poster, I would have to agree with you. But he has a long history of flooding boards with many images of questionable value (deomonstrated by the lack of comments or responses to most of his posts). If he were to limit his posts to one or two a day, and was more selective in his choice, he would not raise this furor around him, and quite honeslty, would probably be more appreciated. I know for a fact he was banned from another board for much the same behavior, and several years back there was a movement here to do the same. In any case, I think that using the persoanl settings available to us to limit who we see and don't see onthe board is a perfectly acceptable way of dealing with it. He can still post whatever and how much he wants, and I can see what I want and avoid what I don't want. Works for me. :D

You're missing the point. It's not about images. It's about LOTS and LOTS of images, in numerous postings. These postings inundate the forum in question and make it damn near impossible for anyone else to be seen. By blocking his avalanche at least we get to see what the rest of the groups is trying to show us. If you haven't seen the affect of his vomiting forth of images, you're missing a real treat in the Pbase experience. OIN general, it's impossible to avoid his material, even if you don;t open one of his posts. So he stays blocked to my eyes. To bad to because I suspect he may actually have something worth reading in other postings. It's not as simple as not kliking... er clicking..... I have no problem with him. Anymore.

Also I agree that the "show us your voyeuristic beach shots" are pretty lame too, so I skip those as well.

I just removed his name from the foe list to see how many street photography there are. On my 20" Imac I counted 16 on the first page.

if the idiot would use one thread, nobody would block him - but he fills the forum since years as if it's made only for him

why not give him your email-address and ask him to send you all his stuff ? soon you will use a spamfilter, i bet

I didn't know that option existed but how would I get to sleep at night when I run out sleeping pills :? All I have to do is to check out the latest Genghis gem and I'm off in a couple of nanoseconds  zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

For those who think we are being tough on him, you have not had to put up with his plethora of daily posts for the past five or six years. I, like many others, rarely if ever post on this forum mainly because I just cannot compete with the endless posts.

I don't spend a lot of time on this forum, but now that it's pointed out, yes, there are too many threads which are started by one member, and many are somewhat lacking in quality and purpose.

Most forums have proper moderation to check this kind of thing; is there no moderation here ?

I would suggest a seperate subforum for Street Photography.

It seems like a reasonable request to me. If you have a certain genre of photography (which I don't mind) that is not truly representative of most photographer's interests (that is to showcase some of the great talent on here), it seems that a special sub-section would be the answer. The number of threads here entitled "street photography" would warrant it - ten on the first page alone, most with few or no replies, showing there is little or no interest. That to me constitutes spamming.

and that, to anyone who joins in and wants to defend the subject of this long post, is the issue in a nutshell.... He's basically a spammer. There I said it too. go ahead defend him, attack me I don't care. Spam is as Spam gets.
