This has to be my favorite thread as well as one of my favorite hobbies (bird watching...and photography)
I am just amazed at the incredible shots you all have posted here.

Wonderful bird pictures from everyone. This is really my favorite subject too. Gene is that the 400/5.6L you used on the latest hawk shots? How is it comparing with the 100-400 for you now, after several more weeks? Here's my shot for the day, it's only a baby.

Hi Anna,
Yes, the 400/5.6. Zhe 100-400 is going in for repair, finally, tomorrow. I still like that zoom and IS flexibility, but the 400 is pretty darn sharp, especially wide open and easy to handle.
Great shot Anna! I have yet to see an owl in my parts.
