I just used it on the feller that was reposting his blog entries to the Tech forum.. If I wanted to read his blog, a simple link would have been sufficient...

I have had that particular purveyor of "street photography" blocked for years now. I just assumed that everyone else did the same thing. LOL. I feel sorry for those of you who have been suffering all this time ... at least now you know how to fix it.

I must admit that I'm going to make use of this facility, but it's a shame if it blocks all his posts (such as responses to other posters threads) which might be of value to me. It's something that I have noticed and just ignored and whilst I don't see it as a huge issue (as a_zeitler correctly pointed out - no one is forced to look at them) I do see it as a form of mild spamming which I'd rather block. I'm sure there are a number of users who enjoy viewing and commenting on his images (and should retain the right to do so), but perhaps the posts should instead by consigned to one thread - I for one would have no issue with this and he could continue to have the same exposure that (for whatever reason) he currently enjoys.

The whole point of the show & tell forum (and photography itself) is self-promotion. I suppose, as summed up by the response of two users to mnl's throw-away line "show me purple" - ghengis isn't the only one who takes it a little too far sometimes. I wonder what his thoughts on the matter are?

I'm one of those late discoverers ... still, a worthy discovery. Sweet.

Not so bad these days, but the situation was much worse in the past.

I genuinely believe that the poster that this topic is aimed at has damaged PBase. There are definitely less forum users now than there were before he arrived and that makes me presume that PBase will have lost some of those people as subscribers also.

Perhaps the admins at PBase should have taken more notice and banned the user (as other forums did) before it got this far. I temporarily removed him from my foe list today and its scary that he still dominates the S+T forum. Perhaps he should be automatically added to everyone's foe list

I agree with you. Whoever is "monitoring" this forum should ban him from posting.

I thought that conventional wisdom blames George Bush for all of our woes.

This is another example of how poorly PBase is managed. The simple - and most effective - thing to do is give him a warning and if he doesn't clean up his act immediately then refund his $23 and revoke his account. But this is PBase, and the owners simply don't give a damn about good, professional management. I have Genghis and one other person on my "foe" list, but now I look and post in the S&T forum far less than I did before this clown monopolized it.

This is about someone dominating the forum through almost daily repetitive postings. If a person does that, especially over a long period of time, it ceases to be a forum.
