OMG! Thank you! I thought I was the only one who found the constant scrolling through the street photography threads to be annoying. Then I felt guilty about wanting to restrict someone else's expression. Now I don't have to scroll and I don't have to feel guilty! YAY! :)

Thank you!
I quit looking at the forum over a year ago because of it. This is a great feature.

Wow, You are all completely crazy and self centered. I dislike the Street Photography threads just like everyone else on here. But to go out of your way to complain about it and try to get the member banished is completely idiotic. I don't like the threads, nor do I care for the images. But... I give him credit for being persistant and passionate about photography. If he enjoys those images and enjoys the CREATIVE titles he gives them, then who are we to say that he is wrong?
There were complaints about his numorous posts, so what was done? There was a limit to the amount of posts that could be made in a given period of time. Yet you are still not happy.
He accomplished exactly what he was looking for... attention, recognition and being known. When you hear the name Genghis or Street Photography, you know exactly what they are talking about or have a first impression made simply by hearing those words. Can anyone here, complaining about his posts, say the same? If someone were to mention your screen name or a post you made, is anyone going to know who you are and what they are talking about? Doubtful. I am glad that the mods have added the friend /foe feature.
That only allows the unimaginative, stereotypical, so-called artists that think they are photographers to block out any inspiration or insight into the entire photography realm. Genghis posts nothing offensive, obscene or even questionable in regards to content. There are plenty of nudes and erotic images posted throughout the forum... are you complaining about that even though it is inappropriate and occassionally against the forum rules?
My suggestion to everyone one is to mind their own business and stop trying to make yourself feel important. If you do not like a title of a thread, the poster that posted it, or the subject matter, then ignore it and don't look at it. No one in this world tells you or forces you to look at anything. You control your eyes. By using the friend/foe feature and blocking things out, you are simply allowing yourselves to slide into a streamlined, controlled, and pathetic life that has no imagination, purpose, or meaning. You yourself become useless to the creative side, the artistic side, and the advancement of anything in the art world. You are forcing yourself to be just like everyone else.

Well, that is my two cents on Street Photography. Feel free to agree or disagree. But at least I am not shutting myself into a mundane, boring, sheltered life.

Actually it is quite the opposite. Obviously you are speaking from an uninformed, and fairly sanctimonious position on this subject. So I will explain it again. Scott posts street photography. Lots and Lots of Street Photography. In earlier days, like in before Pbase enabled the Friend/Foe option, Scott would post multiple times in multiple threads, effectively blocking out ALL OTHER CONTENT. He would do this all day long and into the evening. Imagine 10 to 15 or more threads by the same poster, constantly updated to keep them front and center. Now, in my book, going into the Show and Tell forum and seeing NOTHING else but Scott's threads, I and MANY other Pbase members felt that it was actually Scott who was doing what you accuse the original poster of the thread.

The funny thing is, that no one has been banned. I suppose Scott still posts like no tomorrow, I don't know. All I care about is that other Pbase members get a chance to display their images in what is probably the most enjoyable forum on the board. Everyone is doing EXACTLY like you are commanding them ( yes, you are coming across a little strongly, bub) ......except with a feature of the forum which does this task automatically.

Please, excuse my poor english. I'm a french speaking person.

What is the problem here? Sorry but i don't see any.
You do not want to see his picture, no problem at all. Is there anybody that oblige you to go and have a look at his picture. When i'm not interested, I pass thru his post and I don't think that his numerous threads is impeaching anybody to have a right to be seen.
I live in Quebec (Canada) and I see on a regular base cars with license plate from New-Hampshire. If I'm not wrong, I do remember that it is written: Live free or die.
There's a lot of thing more important in life.
Merci beaucoup

If you read through the post immediately above yours, you will see the key phrase "effectively blocking out ALL OTHER CONTENT". In a nutshell, the poster in question placed so much of his own material in the forums, nothing else was able to be seen. The Show and tell forum became all about him and his work which many grew tired of seeing. We have therefore filtered his content form our personal view of the forums. I for one made no judgement as to it's merit, I simply did not want to see it anymore. It's like an art gallery, some rooms you wish to see, others you do not, right?

I agree with Mike here. I was also around before Pbase admins put posting caps in place. Back then you would post something and 15 minutes later it would disappear off the first page and we all know that most people don't look much farther than that. It was simply unfair to the rest. I severely doubt that Scott's frequent posts represent his passion for photography but more his passion for irritating others. Glad to see we have a tool to deal with Forum trolls like him.

Adios, Genghis45!

Now if we could just get rid of the "Why is Pbase so slow" threads, life would be perfect. :D

Taking over of a forum is not fair to other members and that is essentially what happened between the member mentioned and his camp follower. This forum became essentially worthless to other members, and there was no other place for them to post & share photos. With complete disregard to requests, suggestions and complaints from other users, this continued until there was an unofficial 'posting contest' one day to emphasize the ongoing nonsense. PBase responded by establishing a limit on the number of threads or posts (can't remember which) any member can make during the course of one day in this forum specifically to stop the antics by these members. It's unfortunate that it took an action like this when respect for, and recognition of, other members should have resulted in a behavior change.

The implementation of the current commercial forum software followed the above, I understand this SW includes the 'friend / foe' feature and PBase decided to turn it on. I don't know if the posting limit still exists. My personal likes or dislikes for a style of photography are only my personal opinion, and are totally irrelevant to a photography community. I believe a forum like this should be available to everyone on an equal basis and photos should not disappear off page 1 as a result of 1-2 members posting & bumping.

It would be nice if people stop with them. That and still the slag fests they all seem to turn in to.
