This is my favourite "unexpected shot". I was planing on taking a picture of the seagulls in Sydney (which, I admit, would probably have been rather boring) when all of a sudden, the little girl started running at the birds. I took the picture at just the right moment; a mere second later, the birds were chased away by the girl. To this day, this is one of my favorite "street potography" (pun intended ) shots...

A bus got in the way of this one, but I think it works in the end.



I was taking the pic and they turned around and I figured I no longer had the shot. Then this happened.

Wasnt what I wanted, but I think it worked out.

I was at the zoo and the baby jumped in his mom's arms and then I got this. In the second shot you can see a small grin on mom's face - before this she looked depressed and like she was frowning.

This surprizing effect in the eastern sierras was a complete and happy surprise.


Came out early for sunrise shots in the famous Alabama Hills, and was surprised to find out it's a popular Sunday morning ballooning spot.


An unexpected lens effect.


Just photographing the view, when these crazy Finlanders decided to challenge each other. Later, they climbed up the cliffs right in front of me. So I got their email address and sent this great pic to them.

Walking around a business park on a lonely Saturday morning when I spotted these two ducks swimming in the small man made pond. Suddenly they both got up on the planter and faced opposite directions, I only had time to take the one shot before the female jumped down and swam away.

I was waiting for the high speed ferry in Norway. I turned around to see this vista:

I wasn't expecting this shot, when out with my camera.

I was set to photograph the alley that leads to Chez Piggy, one of Kingston favourite restaurants, when this young lady walked into view. Although she looks like a model she is a nursing student.
