Give us a few Phone Shots

Post Mon Oct 10, 2011 1:30 am

I suppose now that they've now been around for a while, the smart phone camera images are getting more ubiquitous. I still don't consider them to be real cameras but to tell the truth, I use my phone less for phone calls than as an internet access point on the fly. A few free apps they have also marvelously imitate Polaroids and toy camera effects. So, show off some of your favorite 70's style images....

I have a gallery full of them - the camera in my phone is pretty bad, but such is life :)

If you are interested, go here: http://www.pbase.com/christopheru/legendary_photos

(they are not "legendary" - I use an HTC Legend for now)

What is utterly remarkable to me is the term "phone" shot".

When I was a kid in my thirties I used to build computers for my friends. I could put together an IBM clone with two (countem TWO) floppy disk drives of.. gawd! how much memory? 64KB dual sided?
I was still a film photographer.
THEN a year later or so I could offer them a HARD DRIVE of an astounding 10 MB storage... it weighed six pounds.
I was still a film photographer.
Then, due to my employment I was pushed into mini-cassete videography.
I was no longer a film photographer. I purchased a two megapixel Casio and have not looked back since.
Today cell phone cameras have ten thousand times more memory than my first IBM-clone PC and the resolution is beyond comprehension for a computer hack of the 1980s.

Yet

We have won.

Creativity is as close as your hand-eye coordination.. your cell phone.

It amazes me... it pleases me.
