Lets Make These Forums Rock Again!

Post Wed Jul 21, 2010 8:15 am

OK people. I think we as a forum need to come together and make a concerted effort to get these forums rocking again.

When I came to PBase this place was moving. There were new threads regularly, people commented on your threads, the forum moved. It was great. Unfortunately over the past few months it has slowed down.

We can blame it on downtime, and yes, that contributed to some people jumping ship, but we also need to take some responsibility as posters and become proactive and work to bring these forums back.

Its simple really - people like to post in a place where others post. More posts and threads=more members. More members=more posts. And so on and so on.

So here is what I plan to do. And if you join me, great! If not, not so great, lol. I am going to try my hardest to comment on 5+ threads a day.

I know that seems like not so much, but if we all take the time to read 5 threads and comment, then these forums will be rocking again.

More comments means more people wanting to start threads, more threads more comments. Its a snowball thing people! We are a photography forum, and people come here to show their work and get feedback from fellow photographers. Right now we need to start giving that feedback.

So who is with me? Who is going to take this 5 comment pledge?

Lets get together as a forum and really get this place moving again.

(let the sarcastic comments of the haters begin)

Thanks,
Aaron

Totally agree. I've actually learned more from making dumb comments and being corrected (by some very knowledgeable people I might add) than by many other ways. However also, sometimes there is more than one road to the city. Guess I should learn to put questions in the form of questions rather than statements :) ...but it still has worked, as a learning tool. Arguments, and discussions often teach us better than anything, since we really have to examine our own ideas then...and to me that is the strength of forums. I'm just adding this comment, since I feel that sometimes people don't comment thinking their questions (or answers) might seem dumb. I once had a teacher who said "A dumb question is always better than a dumb mistake" Same for posting photos. Taste is arbitrary to a great degree. So nobody should ever be afraid to ask a question, or post a picture.
I've noticed to that forum activity is way down, sometimes in Q+A a post will last 2 days on the top. The strength of PBase to me has always been the people here. Thanks
