Suburban Astrophotography

Post Tue Mar 16, 2010 1:22 pm

Hi all. I'm new to the forum / Pbase. These shot's were taken from my front driveway in light polluted northern New Jersey over the past few years with modest equipment. Thanks for looking. Any comments are much appreciated.

Very very cool stuff. I am in NNJ too and would love to know how you shot them. What exposures, filters, lenses, etc.

Love the shots.

Very cool stuff indeed dsantiago. You got some great shots, I would not have thought it possible in your location. Hope you add lots more.
Best Wishes,
Walter

Thanks Walter and Aaron. They were taken with either A QSI 540 or Meade DSI Pro III CCD camera on ether an 80 -90 mm refractor or 10" Schmidt Cassegrain telescope. Exposure lengths varied from between 2 and 20 minutes, stacking multiple (up to 30 per channel) exposures. Longest total exposure time for an image approached 12 hours. I used Astrodon LRGB and IDAS light pollution filters. Thanks for looking!
