The first. We live in the real world, (well, most of us do) and for me at least, when I think of a murder thriller, my favorites are always set in the 30's to 50's, when TV and movies were still mostly black and white.

for me the story tells the first photo. Even though presented in two ways (color and BW) there is clearly a connection between them.
Great composition...

+1  but I'd let only the reader in color and all the rest in B&W.

Have to say the first.
It was my first choice and the more I look, the more I like all of them, but for first impressions ...the first one.

I like the first one too. To add to some of the reasons others stated; because of the contrasts between...seems like it gives it a more of a distance and more of a feeling of insight into what the reader is thinking. I think in this case the selective loss of color really works well and takes the viewer into the story. By the way, think these are all very well done.

Generally I don't really like selective colouring, but I can see why you've gone for it with the first and it's certainly a subject more deserving of that particular type of post processing than usually seen, as it helps to explain the photo.

That said...I prefer the third one!
