I've posted a new snow gallery at http://www.pbase.com/jerseyfinn/_snowdreams.
Snow shots are always interesting as you're out there in some very cold weather working without gloves, so your hands and feet are pretty frozen by the time you're done -- and you've got to constantly check your lens for water droplets. Also kind of hard on the batteries as I keep a camera in a pocket to keep it warm as I switch between my camera and video camera. This specific day was especially interesting as it was COLD ( 24 or so ) & the air was dry. Only some 3 or 4 inches fell overnight, but the snow was so dry and fluffy and it still lay undisturbed on the trees and shrubs when the day arrives -- it was a beautiful morning. The sun comes up late, and when it does, takes only a few hours to warm the snow up and melt it into heavy globs which drop like rocks. I shoot these photos and do some video before all of this happens and the snow is still light and powdery. A slight breeze would stir in the trees and powdery showers of snow would come cascading down in brief white-out powder avalanches. I better capture those powder showers in video than I do in pixels, but there's still some nice stills from that day.
Let me know what you think of the gallery.
thanks,
Barry
