Editing CSS for individual thumbnails

I'm not even sure this is possible! Basically, what I'm trying to accomplish is to change the alignment of the image/text of the individual images in the gallery. I want to keep the gallery stylesheet intact (with rows of images). Specifically I prefer to have text to the left or right instead of below the image when you open the individual images, similar to a blog template. I've played around with it a little this morning and have managed to almost achieve the look I want. But I can't figure out how to get the image into the box? Actually, I was able to place the image there but then I had duplicate images on the page This is what I was able to accomplish: http://www.pbase.com/rickscustomnursery/image/66339018.
Is there any way to work around this, or is it just not possible without changing the actual stylesheet of the gallery? Even if I am able to find a way to do this I'm not sure FF is going to be 'friendly' - when I viewed the page in FF it's totally different from what I see in IE
Thank you for any help or suggestions,
Debbie
