To avoid confusion when reading forum threads would it be possible to freeze an entry in a discussion once there is a reply to it.

I.e. you can modify your entry as long as there haven't been subsequent posts in the same thread.

If you're worried about spelling mistakes, etc - use the preview feature and/or http://www.iespell.com
