unsure why some people would be having trouble.
your photos load just fine for me.

do the pages load, but the images themselves won't?
or not even the pages load?
do the thumbnails load but not the large sizes?

okay now i'm on an outside computer and i'm having that problem again. the pages load up and so do the image names, but the thumbnails won't. when i click on the image name, it goes to the page that would show the image, but the image isn't there.

possible, but i don't think so because the thumbnails are generated by pbase and should work with any system.

everything looks fine on my mac and linux browsers.
i will go find a windows machine and try that just in case.

certain people have mentioned problems with images loading when they are on a computer with software called ZoneAlarm installed.
but as far as i know, it only affects the large images.

I don't know if this is relevant or not but here goes. If you happen to be using PaintShop Pro 8 and have saved the image using the LOSSLESS JPEG format the resulting image can not be seen on any computer that does not support LOSSLESS JPEG. People who do have PaintShop Pro 8 will see it but others wont.

No idea if this helps or even points you in the right direction. Craig

Are you using Internet Explorer 6.0 on the windows computer? There is a bug that we're still working on which involves IE 6 and photos saved in photoshop. If you think this is the problem, try using netscape or a different browser.

Hope this helps. I cannot view (with a few exceptions) resa850's photos using IE6.0 on a Windows XP system. If I use Mozilla on the same Windows XP system, I can view all of the photos. (I had noticed this with a few other people's photos before, but I had not noted which ones I had a problem with.)

I even tried to load the photos by using a url directly to the images, and that didn't work in IE6.0. Although it does look like it is transferring the image, IE doesn't display the image and won't let me save the data. Loading the image directly into Mozilla works.

I then used wget (via Cygwin) to transfer an image to my system. I can view this image with IE6.0 on the same Windows XP system. I then used wget and set the user-agent field to match that sent by the version of IE I use. I could still load and view the image directly off of the disk with IE.

If there is more info that I could grab or more testing I can do to help, let me know.

The photo I did the testing with is
http://image.pbase.com/u20/resa850/larg ... alt779.jpg
or
http://www2.pbase.com/image/9357758

URLs cut-n-pasted from Mozilla.

Okay, this is odd. After viewing (really trying to view) resa850's gallery, I cannot view any photos on pbase until I restart IE (exit and start). Cached photos work fine, but anything that has to load from pbase won't display.

What I've tested:\
Start IE
Visit http://www.pbase.com/preston/
(both representative images load fine.)

Visit http://www.pbase.com/resa850/
(some representative images load fine.)

Visit http://www.pbase.com/preston/youthwimming/
(one representative image loads - the one that is shown on http://www.pbase.com/preston/ )
Try to view the larger images, and the pages load, but the images don't show up.

Visit http://www.base.com/
(the photos for the example galleries don't show up.)

Exit IE
Start IE

Visit http://www.pbase.com/preston/youthswimming/
(I see all representative images and I can view all of the larger images.)

Visit http://www.pbase.com/resa850/
(some reprentative images show up, but not the same set as before)

Visit http://www.pbase.com/preston/youthswimming/
(I see all representative images, but I can only view the larger images that I viewed before.)

Sounds like an odd problem with IE6.0 to me, but try to tell that to MS.

I'll note that the images in http://www.pbase.com/preston/youthswimming2002/ were converted to jpg from tiff format using Photoshop 6.x. I do NOT have a problem viewing these images with my system using IE6.0.

Again, if I can be of any help, let me know.

I goofed up typing in two of the URLs above (I didn't cut-n-paste.)

http://www.base.com should be http://www.pbase.com

http://www.pbase.com/preston/youthwimming/ should be http://www.pbase.com/preston/youthswimming/

I did use the correct URLs when testing.:-)

Hey guys,

I'm the "outside computer" (gee glad I mean so much). When ever I goto her pbase account, her images do not load. Instead, its like theres a GIGANTIC images that my computer gets stuck trying to load, and after I close the brower I can not load images from any website. It requires me to restart my computer before I can view anything.

Now, my pbase account http://www.pbase.com/dkauer744 has some 300+ (just a bit over) meg's online, tons of hot links and 0 issues anywhere.

Any ideas? Im on XP and internet explorer (v6 I guess). Also, the other dozen or two pbase accounts I look at regularly have no issues either.

Either way, Im sure you guys know more about it than I... just kind of confused by it.

(still love it here!)

I think i mentioned this before--but this problem is a known bug that we have. It has to do with saving photos in photoshop and viewing those photos in IE 6. I've been able to reproduce the problem here, but we haven't been able to fix this on pbase yet. If you come across one of these photos, you probably won't be able to view any other photos afterwards so just restart IE.

To the owner of the photos that cause this problem, just re-upload the photos saved as a different format.

Hope that helps!
