Sorry for this question guys but I can't seem to understand what the advantage is of direct-linking... what is it actually?? Is it just copying and pasting the url to show a specific picture to soemone else or to put it up another page? Is that it?? Then my number of direct-linked pictures should have been way higher. Or don't they count when you direct-link them by yourself??
Please explain: What is direct-linking/ what is the advantage and how do I direct-link images??
Thanks!! ~ Menno

Direct linking is where you have the photo show up on another site.
Lets say your using ebay and don't want to pay the extra fee for another photo hosted so you add the url for the image with .jpg at the end to the listing (the photo will show up in the listing for free). Or if you are posting in a forum you would have the photo stored on a remote server like pbase.A good example of that style is the dpreview forums.

Also may I suggest

Hope this helps. If not I'll expand more on the subject

Hi Menno

All you have to do is copy and paste the URL of the particular image (NOT the gallery URL) you want to post on say, Fred Miranda's site or DPReview but you must add .jpg at the end of the URL. But remember to resize the image either through Photoshop or other software or else it will take an absolute age for some folk with slow modems to see the image. IMO no more than 200 kb or 680pxls at the longest! Slug only allows those of you who are paid up subscribers to "embed" images.

Cheers
Sheila
