On the full edit gallery page there's a section that allows you to change the name, caption for all selected images in that gallery.

As to the name being added, I don't know... I have not uploaded recently, but I did in February and my name is correct.

You may want to check your camera settings; many modern ones have the ability to embed the artist name in all images that the camera takes. If you bought it second hand in particular it may still have the name of a past owner.
