A beautiful day here, I'm meeting twenty members of our photo group in an hour at the San Diego Zoo for a photo shoot. Should be a lot of fun.
Have a great day everyone!

+1 more. This forum needs to become a "Question and Answer Forum" again. The complaining about PBase on the forum brings nothing, except keeping visitors away.[/quote]

Agree,
but take a look at what’s going on this Q & A Forum.
There are next to none activity at all.
And why is that :?:

I've been trying to figure that out for a while. Don't think it's because of the complaints since people always complained some, including myself about the lack of communication. Sometimes the same post will be at the top for nearly a day. :? Have many people just lost interest? or?

I for one have lost interest. I simply got tired of the constant complaints, arguments, criticisms and attacks. This site is what it is, complete with its strengths and weaknesses, beauty marks and warts. It works OK for some users but clearly not for everyone. It seems clear the admins have little interest in the forums, and rarely if ever visit here. I believe it's more effective to communicate problems via email to PBase, and yes, I know PBase doesn't act on a lot of the email from my own experiences. It's also unlikely IMHO we'll see a radical transformation anytime soon, yet life's too short to get emotional over the site, it's only a bunch of digital 1s and 0s sitting on some hard drives far away.

I would like to see the forums regain the spirit of cooperation, camaraderie, etc. These things have a tenancy to go in cycles, so eventually the pendulum should swing back.

So why don't those that want to get back to the happy days simple ignore the posts from those that are actually spoiling the experience here. A sad lonely post says more than can be achieve trying to change the opinions of those who are patently unhappy here....but they stay to fight the good fight

I am sure a bit of research would show that there is about 20 people not happy and voicing their opinions here ...which out of the many 10s of thousand users is a VERY small percentage who feel so bad that they must voice their opinions.

C'mon guys lets live with what we have cos the complaining will not make one halfpenny of a difference.....it works fine for me for sufficently high % of time to make me happy to be part of the whole organisation....

I think it's easy.
You leave, and everybody will be happy.

:D

If everybody would leave who is not satisfied, pBase would cease to exist and you'd have to get another place for your pictures as well. I've been a paying member almost from the beginning and have been very patient during all trials and tribulations.
I still have 12 months but after that I certainly won't renew my subscription if things are still the same. You can have pBase all to yourself, hope you're happy.

What advertisements do you see on flickr? I, as a paying member (22 euro a year, no limit in uploads), don't see any. It's true on pBase you have more possibilities in the way you want to present your pictures. If you're a css and html wizard, which I'm not.
Statistics on flickr are far more accurate. You can even download exel files to explore them further. At the moment it's much more fun to publish my pictures there then here at pBase, where the hit count may be higher (well sometimes suddenly even a few thousand on a gallery) but cannot be trusted at all. Not to mention that, in sharp contrast to pBase, on Flickr people actually contact me for the use of my pictures in magazines, on websites, in groups and galleries. Google still prefers pBase but I see that slowly changing as well.
However I still hope pBase strikes back. If they do before my conscription runs out I'll stay and pay.

Regards, Hanzo

At the risk of getting jumped on by a particular member for having my own opinion :) , I would disagree as far as my experience is concerned, I get more sales via PBase. Only once, in eighteen months was I approached via Flickr and that company "did not have a budget for photographs" so they were looking for a freebie.

The fact that some pbasers have absolutely no problems, have never ever had a problem of any kind, make successful sales, and are just fine in every way etc., does not invalidate the experience of many other members who have experienced problems. And how dare you tell members of the pbase family they must leave because they complain too much for your personal liking?

Well this is an active topic :)
Flickr...Have a very small account there. Every time, by the time I figure out how to navigate the photos, it's time to go to sleep. PBase is elegant in it's format. Sure it's got some problems, which site hasn't? The main one I've seen is lack of communication, since many people are pretty understanding that problems can occur, but not so understanding of being ignored when they do occur (or thinking they're being ignored)
DPR has started hosting. I had to use one browser to load 'em, and another to view 'em. In all fairness it was sort of beta at the time, and haven't tried lately. I think that site could get pretty big, depending on how they handle it.
But...although PBase could be improved...and although I've been edgy with some people...and all....Do think people have a right to complain sometimes. I've done it. But all in all, I've got to agree with Sheila, PBase for 'me' (and can only speak for me, since knowing some people do still have some problems) serves my purposes. I do like the ability to customize, while realizing some could care less. Do wished they'd get the printing and selling thing going, would make it a lot easier to sell...especially for someone like me who only gets very occasional inquiries...some of the other sites where selling is promoted, are very busy trying to sell themselves, so much so that photos are hard to find.
