Disappearing pictures & red X

Some pictures have disappeared from my Venice gallery, and have now been replaced by the dreaded red X ( in "original" format only).

Examples :

http://www.pbase.com/francist/venice
http://www3.pbase.com/image/14114104.jpg
http://www3.pbase.com/image/14114103.jpg
http://www3.pbase.com/image/14114092.jpg

Any idea of what caused this problem ?
Should I reload ( and loose possible existing comments) ?

Thanks for helping

francis Toussaint

hi. i'm not seeing any problem. those url's you posted here all worked, and things look fine in your gallery.

is this still broken for you or anybody else?

btw, www3 is a temporary server, until a new server is delivered next week.
i will make it so www3 should continue to work in the future, but using www would be better.

Thanks Slug,
funny, the url's work when accessed directly as you did;
But now, go to the gallery http://www.pbase.com/francist/venice
and click on the second picture ( la piazetta), and there you get the red X.

ahh. i see.
sorry about that.
it's fixed now, but i still have to find out why that happened, so it doesn't happen again.

if anybody else has a similar problem, send email to help@pbase.com and mention your username and the "mirror server" problem.

thanks for the alert,

Thanks again, Slug,
I am really impressed by your capacity to solve so many problems at the same time. Pbase is the best photobase on the net and it gets better and better all the time.
Congratulations.

Photos won't upload - Little Red X in the Box

Haven't been able to upload any photos since Thursday, July 31, 2003. All I get is the little box with the Red 'X' inside. Not only with new photos but, also tried it with photos already in an album, just to check and see if it was the new photos. This same thing was happening to many of us several months ago. A glitch in pBase software...This is Friday morning 8/1/03 @ 5:15 am CST.

Yup, me too.

Everything that I've uploaded AFTER 19 July seems to be having the same problem. Thumbs generate OK, but fullsize images just "x" out.

Looks like one of the newer image servers is down.

I'm having the same problem, but I downloaded a ZIP file again with the same pics and strangely, the originals AND the new upload showed in the gallery. :(

Inability to view originals

What determines whether or not I can see my originals? I'm getting the red x in all my galleries, recent and older. Sometimes I can see others' originals but usually not. I just need to know whether this is a current system-wide problem or just mine. Thanks for any current status information. Patsy

if it's still a problem for you, could you post an example image that's not working for you?
