We can't Edit notes on the forum so am correcting the last one. Apologies.

emily wrote:If you just want to view the contents in sorted order without reordering them, use the full edit view on the edit gallery page. Scroll down to the list of contents and click the linked table header for whatever you want to sort by:
Sequence = sort by sequence number, increasing (this is the default)
Title = sort by title, increasing
Hits = sort by hits, decreasing
Original = sort by the size of the original image file, decreasing
So, you can safely play with these sorting options without actually altering the order of your gallery contents.

This is GREAT! Thanks!

I may post a new note but will ask here:

I just tried LinkingSubgalleries from my Root page and liked
it EXCEPT that when =logged out and refreshed the pages=,
I could see, as someone else w/no admin rights, all the Private Subgalleries and all of their pictures.

Is that intentional? I've set them back to unlinked until
I hear further. Thanks!

Um, what happened to the "Show photo description in gallery view" option?

You might mean the box to show Captions on the Thumbnail pages?

I have several posts up about this, which is a very reproducible bug.

The Captions-display-on-Thumbnails-page feature is now an option
in the "Advanced" section (there's a text link to this at the top of your galleries, a bit to the left).

That makes sense.

The flaw for now: Whenever you edit your gallery's description
or its title or its column or style-layout and save those changes, the Captions-Display box that's hidden under Advanced link becomes unchecked.

So, each time that I change a gallery-layout (top box on Full-Edit page), I now also click on Advanced to put a checkmark in Captions box again.

I hope they do fix that one soon :-)

But obviously, it's not a critical bug, though it will cause a lot of
confusion and some frustration when people don't know why they're
"losing" their captions on the gallery thumbnails.

An Open Letter to Slug

Dear Slug,

Forgive me for giving you unsolicited advice, however I am quite upset with Pbase, and I know from other people’s posts that they share the same confusion and anger.

Frankly Slug, I am pissed off at you!

I think you are doing a lousy job of keeping us informed about what is wrong and how soon it will be fixed. Your rather anemic explanation on December 28, “we are having a huge flood of visitors to PBase looking at photos of the recent tsunami which is pushing the servers to their limit. We are sorry for the inconvenience. We expect to greatly improve our traffic capacity during Januaryâ€

It's pretty clear from the forum postings that there is a problem. Personally I don't think that inviting folks to stuff Slug's e-mail account with complaints will help. While I sympathise with your frustration, this site does not offer any guarantees as to up-time etc.

OK! But how to break this wall of silence of administration? All our appeals become desperate and going into sand.

So how do I do the copyright statement?

You can set your account-wide copyright statement on your account page at http://www.pbase.com/account
You can override this statement at the gallery level by going the gallery's advanced settings. Just edit the gallery and click the 'advanced' link near the top of the page to get there.
Hope this helps.

Any chance PBase can add a new set of default stylesheets to
the existing ones? I get a little frustrated trying to create my own!

Thanks in advance
