I suppose I’ll need a little time to get used to new look, but the drag and drop feature is surely a good improvement.

The point is that I cannot find, in the new Beta editing page the button for “advanced”,
there is only the button for “sequencing”.

Then I’d like, if it’s possible that the left panel with the tree view of all the galleries folders could be mobile,
that is having the possibility to close and open it according to needs, to have a larger space on the right,
for example when one has to insert text in the gallery description
(I use it, as many others to insert commands to personalize my galleries appearance)

Thank you for all

Ah I have found it…
I mean I have to click on “Gallery details “button and I can find “Advanced gallery Settings” at the bottom of the page.

But I must be definitely rather idiotic, because still I could not find how to get to the gallery display page after editing it with the new Beat mode.
I’m old, slow and slightly allergic to changes, I’m afraid.

Could anyone kindly explain to me how to get to the gallery display after editing it?

Thanks

The good: It imports the keywords from the EXIF. Thank you thank you thank you, that will save a lot of work. (Did you fix the flash fired exif issue as well along with this, just out of curiosity?)

The "But I wish": I'm not too fussed that it doesn't have drag & drop straight from the Windows desktop; I think that the way the file select button has been implemented is much better than the old multiple upload dialog was IMHO. However I'd really have loved it if the lens data had been imported as well so that it didn't have to still be manually selected.

The less good: The dialog seems to convert HTML code into ASCII characters. For example, in my PAD I add a thumbnail to show what the previous year's image was. What goes up as this:
Code: Select all
<b>Last Year</b>
<a href="http://www.pbase.com/akmc_in_au/image/123313513/original" Title="Last Year"><img src="http://www.pbase.com/akmc_in_au/image/123313513/small.jpg" alt="Last Year"></a>

gets rendered as this:

Code: Select all
&#60;b&#62;Last Year&#60;/b&#62;
&#60;a href="http://www.pbase.com/akmc_in_au/image/123313513/original" Title="Last Year"&#62;&#60;img src="http://www.pbase.com/akmc_in_au/image/123313513/small.jpg" alt="Last Year"&#62;&#60;/a&#62;

It still renders fine on the "classic" dialog though.

If there's a setting to prevent that happening, I must have missed it.

Also, the Location text box appears to truncate at 32 characters.

Marisa, I think what you're looking for is on the navigation pane on the left. If you look above your tree of galleries you'll see four icons; a folder icon for creating a new gallery, then an "X" icon for deleting a gallery, then an icon shaped like an eye. That's the one that will display the gallery.

Pbase for some reason is very slow...I think they should concentrate. on increasing the overall speed

Right you are Alan,
It happened to me and one of my gallery look was totally upset and I had no idea for what reason.
I simply deleted the text in my gallery description and then I wrote it again exactly as before and then it worked again, but I do hope it won’t happen every time.
It would really be a pain in the neck to see all those ASCII characters instead of the correct HTLM. If it happened again for all my galleries if would be a catastrophe for me!
Thank you so much for your prompt answer. I have noticed the icon/ button after your so clear explanation.
Thank you again for all.
Best
Marisa

ckirby wrote:Hello everybody, I'm here to announce that the newfangled Edit Gallery page is ready for beta testing. You can go check it out at http://beta.pbase.com/edit. We have tested the page rather extensively, but we acknowledge that there might be some bugs we missed and that is why we would like all of you guys to test it out and give us some feedback. The new page requires fairly up to date browsers (IE7 or less won't work) and if your computer is slow it might not work as smoothly as you would like (especially if you have big galleries or a big gallery tree).

This page lets you rearrange your photos by dragging and dropping them as you see fit. Additionally, there is a fully expandable gallery tree structure on the left. You can drop images on the tree to move them from one gallery to another. You can rearrange your tree structure via drag and drop as well. All the stuff that you could do on the old Edit Gallery page remains but obviously the way you go about doing those things will be a little different. A lot of the functions have been implemented in the various buttons along the top of the screen. All of the gallery settings can be accessed through the various tabs. We will be adding the ability to re-upload images via the Edit Image tab.

Enjoy!

:D excelent, love it

. . . This is OK I suppose but it bothers me that I've been waiting for a full screen slide show feature for 7 years now and it still isn't available. This one upgrade would make pbase nearly perfect for me. How much longer?

Wow, I love the drag and drop for re-arranging the gallery -- which I have been doing quite a bit with a gallery that is a work in progress.

thanks for your work; everything I tried, I liked.

Best, Laura
