Zenfolio has speed issues and the administration there is not very flexible, Smugmug seems a better well run site.
PBase indexes in the search engines better than Smug but your pictures will not even show up any where with Zenfolio.
A new site forming is www.photopointsbeta.com if you are looking.

I like PBase and plan on staying as a paid member.

I really don't like the layout at Zenfolio - really static and boring. Can't you use your own CSS, or are you stuck with what they give you?

It better be Mike, based on the price, but I seldom see photos from that site on the search engines.
Basic is $8.00 a month, that is 4X what you paid here and little exposure on the web.

You should check out RedBubble. Its free, lots of groups and forums for every possible genre of photography, all properly moderated, sales opportunities (its how they make their money as a % of sales), there's a real sense of community and its professionally run by people who communicate. I got a very nice email asking me what THEY had done wrong when I stopped using the site for a few months and it was a real person. Its not perfect, but then what is?

Let me join to this word of encouragement.
And btw. Thank you for your message of 22nd October.
If I know that you're working on a solution I'll wait. Once a week should be acceptable to keep customers like me not too actively looking around for alternative solutions.

The hitcounts code is still being worked on. We are implementing a new method that will allow more information to be available to you. This is our highest priority right now and we should see the first update soon.

Please be aware that no information is being lost currently. When the hitcounts comes back online the data from the past few weeks will be reconstructed and available to view. Thanks again for your patience.

I second that - and I hope that this new tread will not as long lasting as this one - we really need to see the end of this situation asap.

With all the discussion of alternative photo posting sites, I find it curious that photo.net hasn't received any comment (that I've noticed anyway) in this discussion forum. Are there any opinions about that site or any reasons why it hasn't been mentioned much, if at all, by those discussing the alternative site migration? :)

Will this site ever fully work again?
The one months that has passed and the lack of communication makes me think, that it won't.
And I still hesitating whether to stay or leave.

For me, photo.net is a pain when it comes to uploading, naming, sorting, and re-arranging photos. And you can't customize layouts.

It is a much better place to get feedback on your photos, and to provide feedback to others.

I agree with Dennis, aka Fishit. I went on Zenfolio to friends I already know and searched Google for the exact titles on their pictures in their albums and Google did not find one of them.
Pbase is better for indexing, its where all the magazines and some of my customers have found me.
