there is EDIT or X on the right side ;-)

Erich,

No EDIT or X that I can see when writing a post under "News' forum. At least not on my firefox nor my IE.

I don't think we users can edit or delete our posts in the News forum.

Re: PBase is faster now. (NOT)

Well Today is 12-November-2008 and for me it's slower than it ever was.
viva la upgrade.

I really have had enough of this, and as for the lack of feedback from the management there is no excuse.
Not what I expect from a photo host, and sadly, out of frustration, I have deleted all of my galleries.

I'm afraid I don't find it faster at all; if I hadn't seen this post, I wouldn't have known anything was done.

I've been a member of Pbase for almost seven years, and this is close to being as slow as it's been. And communication about problems is as lacking as always. I would much rather all efforts were dedicated to making Pbase fast and stable before any more new features are implemented.

Ron, and others -
Sorry that Dave deleted all his galleries over this, but I don't think
I would have tried doing that during a server slowdown.

For the record, on this thread, it's 5pm in San Francisco area, and the galleries are,
right now, like liquid butter, very smooth and fast -- something I haven't experienced
in a couple of years. I don't know what Slug did, but it's very fast at the moment
in this area. Here's hoping things are like that in other regions and that it stays more or
less that way for a good while.

Pbase is so freaking slow that I just peeked into the forums to see if anyone was complaining before I complained. Imagine my shock to see a thread titled “PBase is faster now”.

It looks like the engine that generates thumbnails and resized images is down.
I upload a full size image and never get a thumbnail.

Pbase has been unbelievably slow for me for at least a year. I've never seen improvement, even when it's announced as having been fixed. It's the slowest site I visit by a magnitude of 100.

OK, now I finally got a thumbnail and the resized images.
I don't know how long it took, exactly, but it seemed like at least 30 minutes.

Faster? NOT

Post Mon Nov 17, 2008 3:23 pm

Not only is it pathetically slow, but the message I get is...

"12-Feb-2008 - We'll be right back in about 10 minutes. The main database choked and is restarting now. Sorry for the inconvenience. -slug "

I don't care that I can't post my image, I don't care that I can't see my profile page. But it really pisses me off when I try to comment on photo of my favorite photographers on PBase and have to wait 5 minutes before comment appears, so I can see next image. Site admins and owners really should be embarrassed. Nothing has been fixed, that's all bs......

Michael.

Its back to slower than ever for me again. The few times over the past couple weeks it did feel much better but those times are now gone ...
