Thank you for quickly making this available!

Whoa. Agreed. It now works FROM Image TO Image. This wasn't
true before. This is terrific.

This is great! EXCEPT that if they keep pressing 'next' we get too much
info for our free 500 pageloads in a log within any time period, since
this would mean downloading more often if you do download the
stats to analyze longer-range.

Just very ELEGANT solution, at any rate. This is just great, since
on most sites you have to put it on each page unless your host takes
care of this for you, and Slug did.

Many thanks to Slug and all the team of Pbase!
I think it’s positive to appreciate what they are trying to do constantly, instead of only complaining about what is not perfect yet.
I post very rarely in forums.
But this time I really want to express my gratitude for what Pbase management is trying to improve.
I can hardly imagine what a deep and serious work there is behind all that.
I think the feature which allows us to use StatCounter is great and so easy to adopt. It helps us to save a lot of time and free us from the need to copy and past a lot of times the same script.
As for Slide-show effects I had them in some of my galleries too, but I do understand it was necessary to protect the system of Pbase from possible abuses.
So I managed to arrange my pages layout in a different way and it’s not too bad to have a change after a while…
We had created all similar copied of the same slide-show script and, even though it was a nice idea at the beginning then it had became nearly a little repetitive.
I trust that Slug and the others will find a way to give us also this option in future, in a much easier way than before, as they did with the StatCounter.
So we’ll have even more possibilities to personalize our pages.
I’m a satisfied Pbase user!
Have all a wonderful day! :D

Marisa (and Slug)

I agree. What is really amazing is that I see -- now that I've checked the
source code for the image pages, that they have inserted this code at the
bottom of each image page for us, in addition to the gallery pages.
It's not part of the description box but part of their own portion of the pages.

This is REALLY a HUGE timesaver and what I consider -great- support.

And done in one day at that. Very [b[impressive[/b], this solution.

Not working for me

Post Wed Jul 11, 2007 5:52 pm

Hello All!

I've entered the variables in my account settings as described; however, I'm still getting the message. Here's the code I've entered:

<!-- Start of StatCounter Code -->
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
var sc_project=2731127;
var sc_invisible=0;
var sc_partition=27;
var sc_security="893278a5";
</script>

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.statcounter.com/counter/counter_xhtml.js"></script><noscript><div class="statcounter"><a class="statcounter" href="http://www.statcounter.com/"><img class="statcounter" src="http://c28.statcounter.com/2731127/0/893278a5/0/" alt="web metrics" /></a></div></noscript>
<!-- End of StatCounter Code -->

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I take that back...I've checked my Statcounter.com page, and it actually is working.

However, on the page I've installed the code(my root gallery) I'm still seeing the message that javascript has been disabled. Is this normal?

Sainath, you're not supposed to install the code on the page. Only to go
to your pbase account page (accessible via top left of your Profile page),
at http://www.pbase.com/account and plug in the 3 Identifying numbers.

PBase does the rest. And it's amazing, the reuslts.

Ah, ok, it's like that. Not sure why I didn't get it before, esp since I thought I had read through this thread carefully, duh :P

I've made the correction now. Thanks for clearing that up, Andrys, I really appreciate it!

I think it's because you went to Statcounter and that's what they tell
us to do. So it was a normal thing to do. It's just that pbase has made it easier.
Maybe they can add later that we shouldn't add the code ourselves
to our page. I think Statcounter might read that 'first' and drop to the
html no-script part and not give us the data.

am I doing this right?

Post Wed Jul 11, 2007 7:30 pm

I want to have stats for each gallery so do I need to generate a code for each gallery? Will I get a report for each gallery using only my root code? I've been updating my account settings with code for each gallery as a project. When I do each gallery's code separately I see that the code in "view source" is the last "var sc_project= " value that I've entered.

I have to admit I was a bit ticked when the script support was dropped, b ut it looks like PBase is stepping up to the plate and offering alternatives....thanks guys!

I'm anxiously awaiting the ExtremeTracker support :)

I'm not sure where the confusion is coming from, probably since the thread is so long. Here's another quick about it:

When you go to http://www.statcounter.com and sign up, you'll read their steps to set up an account and project. Once this is done, copy the code.

Here's where the confusion is.
Do NOT put the entire code into the description area of your gallery.

Instead, go to your Profile page and click "edit account settings".
Scroll to the very bottom, and you'll see three boxes to enter information.

Look in the code Statcounter provided, and add the proper numbers as asked.

Click "update", and you're done.

It tracks all galleries, and all photos automatically due to the great work of the Pbase Team.

OK.... so I only need to do the root gallery and I will get stats for every gallery in my site and every image? right?

Wrong... DO NOT put the entire code from statcounter into ANY gallery, including the root.

no, that's not what I meant

Post Wed Jul 11, 2007 8:25 pm

If I make a stat counter account and the only project I have is the root page and I enter the numbers from the code for the root page project on the pbase account update page, will stat counter track all my galleries and photos from that one (root) project?

Yes.

I just responded to your pmail too, to that effect.

I know it's hard to believe pbase has made it so easy, but they have !
