The slideshow is a very good idea - thanks.

I use HTML in image titles. It is shown correctly in the first slide, later it is not. See below:

http://www.pbase.com/pkotla/sajany_doli ... =slideshow

I have a bigger problem with Polish national characters - entities such as & #343;. They are not displayed properly - you can see an ampersand, hash etc. instead of one character the entity stands for.

Could you take a look at this?

FYI, I deleted a few posts where it looked like editing was a problem.

And the verticals all have this HUGE "Playing" blocking out the top part of the pic even (!), which has blocked the eyes of faces in mine. Surely you don't need to invade the image space with "Playing" in huge fonts and taking part of the image space in reduced photos?

All status messages should fade after several seconds. If it's not going away for you, can you tell me what version of IE you are using and what version of Windows?

After several seconds? I want the slide show to show images
one per second and they can pause it if they want.

So there's no chance to see the slide. Why does the "Playing"
block (and it is a block) have to be over the image?

Otherwise nice job aesthetically, ctstone

Thanks for deleting my extra notes when I thought I was
editing.

Have you been working overtime?

NICE:
I tried it tonight when I got back home. And now, with both IE and Firefox, the 'Playing' thing comes up only once and then no more.
This morning it was on every pic and driving me bonkers on verticals.

I imagine you did something, so thank you.

Jaggies were less pronounced except on diagonals, which have
pronounced jaggies, but it's doable. Probably you did nothing here,
and I just got used to it.

SUGGESTIONS:
1. It'd be nice to say in little letters somewhere (since you leave
space) but only for people whose display is smaller than 1028x768,
that they can click on Title to get the default 'large' size.

2. Then when people click to get the 'large' picture, and press 'back'
button of browser and are back at the slideshow, start the play
machine at the picture they were just on rather than starting at the
beginning again. I imagine this can be done with some kind of flag ?

Otherwise, it's very nice. And placement is nice. I like
that everything is visible. It'd be nice if pc users knew that they
can press F11 to toggle toolbar visibility.

I love that we can choose '1' second. I'd love 2 also. '3' is still
too long for me but not for those who want to read captions, I guess.

Updated feedback

Post Thu Jul 13, 2006 2:07 am

Just an update.
Tried it on my laptop with 1024 x 768 and it looks great.

No degradation, no jaggies (except what was in the image
I uploaded myself).

Except for the wish list in the post above, which I should put into
Feature requests, I guess, I'm really happy with the
spacing and clean look of it all, plus the 1-second option.
No glitches.

... now that the 'Playing' is shown just on the first pic, on all
my browsers and two machines.

I guess the only probs are for people with 800x600
displays, and they probably won't notice, maybe.

I don't like to sound like a spoiled kid but the slideshow really NEEDS to have the option to be customised soon...
My perfectly sharp images look HORRIBLE and loose all their crisp and clarity when the slideshow is turned on.
The slideshow (and adjustable seconds per frame) is awesome but in my honest opinion NOT complete if the quality of my pictures turns out to look bad, I can't show my work this way, I cannot control how other people see my images which is pretty bad, I think. Again, I think that people who really do care about their images make them original sized fitting within most screens, people who don't care don't resize the images at all and that's their problem I'd say...
Not complaining, just really worried...

Please add the customise option sooon, please...!! If not 'original', at least widen the maximum number of pixels top to bottom and left-right.

Thanks in advance!

Just a tip for the ones who didn't find out yet...

If you resize your old pictures or edit your new ones two a maximum of 800 px wide and 700 px in height your images will be shown in the original format and will be seen in their full glory during the slideshow...

Good luck!

This isn't true if your display is set at 800x600. PBase rightly
wants space around the image to show titles, the delay-setting
that can be changed by the user, the pause button, the headers.

I know this because I had a failing video card in that a bank
of memory went south so I had to be on an 800x600 for a couple
of months and saw what 800x600 looks like on a display set
for 800x600. But then I see it at work too, at a university
from people who just prefer that.

PBase will resize this size image for people with that size
display, during a slideshow.

A lot of the stats are based on people self-selecting.

When they come here, slow-modem users will find it impossible
and go away. They tend to have less modern displays too.

I know people who have 800x600 displays and they go away
from sites that default to 800x600 because the edges go beyond
their display and it's disorienting.

So, we're left with people with 1024x768 and up.

I'm back on that myself and it's a relief, though I did like
the large size (on my then 800x600 display) seen when meeting with
800x600 images the way these things work..

Please , please, please, give us the option to set the slideshow to original size. It doesn't have to be the default, but the option must be there.

A random setting that picks pictures from all the galleries would be nice.

A speed setting of 15 seconds would be ideal for letting the slideshow act like wallpaper.

A full screen setting would show the pictures without background allowing more room. A mouse click or keystroke would snap it back to normal mode.

thanks,

Thanks

Guys,

Thanks a lot for implementing the slideshow feature. This one was #1 on my Pbase wish list and finaly it's here. I playied a bit with it and can't see any huge problems. Most important it's got going and even if it has problems I'm sure they will be fixed. One more step to make Pbase better. Thanks again.

Tha would be nice to have an option to start slideshow from any picture's page in the gallery, not only from gallery thumbnails page.

Changing speed has a lag time for effect

CTStone -
Just follow-up info. Tried today to show someone the slideshow with
Firefox and IE on XP, and for both changing to 1 second didn't work
for about 4 pictures and then on the 5th picture it suddenly started
working.

(I second the request to have it start from any image too.)

Little bug report: Image title does not scan for HTML tags

Post Sun Sep 17, 2006 2:03 am

Sometimes I use <b>text</b> tags in image titles. These tags appear verbatim during slideshow, however, they work properly if viewing the image the usual way.

Thanks,
Thomas
