fixed?

The money I spent is not a huge issue, it just wasn't that much. The fact of the matter is that 2 weeks after I join and have pics loaded, the problems started with no explaination. I have already joined a different photo community and am sad that I have no confidence in Pbase. I liked the format enough to become a member. I see that you gave us all a few months and that's cool I just don't trust that it's not going to happen again. (I'm already reading that in the forums)

A sad guy with an empty gallery....

I'm still getting broken thumbs in spite of meticulously fixing all of them, still way more often than last year. Pain in the a*s and it really screws up the page layout when a thumb is a full size image. I'm not buying its fixed yet.

Great Site!

Thanks a zillion Slug and emily - pBase was from the start during the "crisis" and still is simply the best photo site on the net.
Bravo!

Return of the Dreaded Red X

The earlier explanation was great, thanks - but can we get another one sooner than later on the current problems? The X's come and go, and it's maddening, especially when we've just launched a campaign yesterday which is bringing many people to our pages to view our images. It'd be nice to know whether this is something that will be fixed soon, or not, and if there are any workable fixes for us users in the meantime, like reloading images, etc.

Thanks.....

Slug, thanks for ultimately posting about what happened during that
awful time that affected some more than others.

slug wrote:i really am sorry for the inconvenience, and admit the biggest problem was our lack of communication on the subject. our top priority though was fixing the problem.

Your top priority of fixing the problem was just not good-reason at all
to not drop a note here saying that you could not go into detail
or answer questions right now but were very busy sorting out a
complex set of problems that WOULD be fixed but that it would take
a while and thanks for patience etc.

That took me about 15 seconds to type. It's all you need to do
at a time like that. Two months of silence was *horrific*.

Thanks for communicating with a brief note (explaining why you
can't say more) as you did today and hopefully in the future.
It's just part of running a business with 10s of thousands of users.

I've just taken a look and most of my pics taken while travelling SE Asia are gone. I assume this is to do with this discussion.

Could someone in charge please inform me if I have lost these images for good or if they can be restored. I would be devastated if I couldn't get them back in some form...

Got it working!!

Thanks Kathy at Pbase!!

In case others are not able to see the Original size image, in MacAfee's Privacy Service (part of the virus software), you need to go to the Configuration settings, click the Block Ads tabs, and uncheck the Block Ads on this computer, then click Apply. Once that is done, MacAfee no longer blocks the Original size image.

Unfortunately, MacAfee doesn't provide any indications when it blocks an ad, so you don't know it's doing it.

Anyway, I hope this helps others.

Thanks Slug
I've looked at other sites...and none I believe is as cutomizable or has such a large variety of pics to view, and a pretty friendly and helpful bunch...for any amount of money. Thanks for the explaination too, guess when all those backup systems go down it would've got you pretty busy...all at just the wrong times too. Interesting to know the basics of how it works...cool.
