HP Photosmart problem

I've have had a recurring problem when printing with the HP Photosmart C4180 - When printing medium to dark blue colors I get a faded line on the right side of a horizontal print. I've consulted HP support and tried their suggestions including cleaning the rollers and print cartridges, aligning the cartridges, installing new cartridges, power cycling, and restoring default settings using a semi-full reset. The problem still exists.

Here's an example of what's happening:

Any suggestions will be much appreciated!
Mike

Don't know if this is still current but 4 years ago I ran into similar problem with HP Photosmart printer. At that time too cool of paper caused banding, the ink wouldn't absorb correctly. Results were similar to yours. The info regarding this wasn't on HP site, I believe it was on Kodaks. I solved the problem by moving the printer and paper out of the direct air flow of the AC.
Sounds weird but it worked.

I hope thazoo's idea works. Very disconcerting since this is a photo with
such a nice quality. Sure, you can 'fix' it but it'd be better if it would print
correctlyt on that printer since it's one you apparently like as a printer.
