Hi All,

I currently own an HP C6180 milti function printer that takes 6 inks and prints very good color photos but does a terrible job at printing B&W. What do I need to print good quality B&W prints??

You need a printer that uses multiple grey inks to produce B+W. Any printer that uses the color inks to produce at B+W print is susceptible to color shifts. I have personally used the Epson 2400 and 4800 for B+W prints and they look great. I've read some good things about the HP B9180, but haven't used it.

I'd take "best" with a grain of salt. There are three top b/w printers, the Canon, the Epson and the HP ... all in the $600-$700 price range.
The rest of the research is up to you.
