I just got a new printer and it is a Canon Pixma MP500. Where do I find instructions on refilling the cartridges. These have the chip on the cartridge so are different and am not finding much information on these. Can anyone help?

Thank you

Check out nifty-stuff forums (google is your friend) for info on refilling the older style cartridges.. That forum also information on what the new chipped cartridges and printers will do when they detect a refilled cart (and they do detect it after a while).

You might also want to check stevesforums and search using ip4200, ip5200, chip as keywords for more info... There's a lot to filter through but basically there's no reason not to refill, you just need to be careful not to soil your chips or dislodge them.

No alternative chips exist yet so that's not possible... Only chips from original cartridges will work so you're stuck with transferring the chips to compatibles (without a chip) or just refill...
