unwanted posts

Post Thu Jan 22, 2009 11:13 am

I had been a member of a forum where I posted pictures from by pbase galleries. I decided to remove my pictures from the forum but the moderator has changed the link to (IMG:http://www.pbase.com/chiles400/image/102419242.jpg) for example. The picture is not shown but clicking on the link gets you the picture on pbase. Even if I remove the picture from my gallery the link still gets the picture. Suggestions to deal with this creep?

Thanks

John

If the photo(s) is still in your gallery, you can edit it and replace it with another photo or humorous graphic. Or create a password protected gallery and move it there and the link will no longer work.

If you've already deleted it, the photo may still sit on the server until it gets overwritten. In this case you could send a request to support@pbase.com and explain which photo it is and ask them to delete it.

Thanks for responding. I have already tried deleting photos but when you click on the link on the forum you still get the picture. He has apparently downloaded the picture to his site so the link is not to pbase.

If the site is in the US and he is using your photo without your expressed approval, it might be a copyright violation and you can send a takedown notice to his ISP. I suggest you go to the first post in the following thread, there is a link and some information for an attorney that specializes in photography related legal areas in the US. Some PBase members contributed some good information in this thread.

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=38500&hilit=+takedown

I suggest you check the link properties in the forum you refer to and see where the photo is - his site or elsewhere.

Thanks for the great responses. How does one find the means to contact the ISP of the forum in question?

What is the URL when you open the link in the forum you talk about?
If the URL in your browser is actually http://pbase...something the image is still hosted here, and is NOT copied to the forum..!

Edit, the link you posted still shows me the picture!
http://www.pbase.com/chiles400/image/102419242.jpg
Hence the photo is actually NOT deleted from pbase yet...
