I have two pics which I want to put together and animate to illustrate movement... can anyone advise me how I do it please ?

I used to have software to do it but can't remember what it was. You're basically looking to create an "animated GIF", so if you search online you should find something to do it for you.

A quick search shows ULead GIF Animator as a good example.
