I guess nobody wants to tell me what they think. Don't make me beg.

I can tell you what I think. I like the nature gallery and the landscapes. As far as giving you any sort of helpful criticism, that I am afraid I am not qualified to do.

I can only offer oppinions on what I am best at, which is landscapes. Lighting is very important. Most of your landscape photos are taken at or around midday. At midday the contrast between light an dark areas is very high and cameras cannot yet handle the large dynamic range in the light. This means that you get washed out areas and areas that are too dark. Some of this can be fixed in photoshop, but a lot of it can't. What this means is that shooting in the morning and afternoon, especially nearer sunrise and sunset provides you with better light. Not only does it glow red or orange which is often nice, but it reduces the dynamic range so that no areas are washed out. Usually colors turn out more vivid at that time too.

As far as you other stuff goes. I like "Marie". voted. Good style, very nice effects created. Hope that helps.

critiques?

Post Wed Feb 21, 2007 5:02 pm

Well, I'm just a guy who's been liking photography for a while, but since 1: I'm asking the same thing, for critiques and 2: I live in your neighborhood (Montgomery County), and have since before the Beltway, I feel obliged to say hi and offer what opinions I can.

Generally, I'm loving your work - browsing through and leaving specific comments where I have something helpful (I hope) to say!

Welcome aboard from another PBase newbie! :P
