My son gave me his Nikon flash speedlight sb-600..I was wondering if it will work with my Canon 50d? I read, if both (flash and camera) are set to manual it shouldn't cause a problem. I'd appreciate any info on this subject..

I frequently use my SB-800 on my 5D mark II, though it only work in manual mode. I have to dial in the focal length and f-stop. It works fine.
I think same should apply for your setup.
