Looks like "purple fringing" - this shows in blown highlights in some lenses, not much you can do about it. What lens is it?

CA is quite common for that lens.

thanks alot for the reply guys.
i fell alot better knowing that it is normal.

i googled "purple fringing" and some recommendation is to get a strong uv filter to minimize the problem.

I doubt a UV filter will cut it out all that much, I had that lens for a while, had to stop it down a fair bit to control CA

It was a nice fast lens but below f3.5 I had to deliberately underexpose at least 1 stop to make CA acceptable and/or fixable in Lightroom

Apart from that nice lens though, good for B&W band/stage shots
there is no .sig

I don't know if a UV filter will be of any use, but it's a common problem so theres probably a quick fix option in Photoshop, I know there is in Paint Shop Pro which I use, it's called "Chromatic Abberation Removal..."

Also, try ptlens at
http://epaperpress.com/ptlens/

At the Examples page
http://epaperpress.com/ptlens/example.html

By clicking on the buttons for Chromatic Aberration example,
You'll see 100% with no CA correction and then
100% with CA correction

Free trial, from what I remember.

If you like it and everything else it does (superb utility
that also handles various types of distortion and easy,
viewable rotation:
then it's $15.00

Works inside Photoshop as a plug-in and/or as a stand-alone utility.
