I just got back some 220 old Velvia 50 and 100 of the same exact photos taken at the same time and the colors in the 100 are brilliant but the reds in the 50 are brown. Neither one looked like the old Velvia to me. Also lower edges of Velvia 50 always had "RVP, frame number and arrow (shaped like a rectangle with a triangle on one end) pointing in the direction of the increasing numbers. Top edge was Fuji RVP with a few batch numbers scattered throughout.
Recent rolls I got back had backwards Triangular arrows (I haven't seen any Fuji arrows that look like that) on top edge with all writing on the top edge, nothing on the lower edge. Does anyone know enough about the film to determine if this could indicate a problem at the lab?
