Getting a new Camera Feedback please

Post Fri Feb 25, 2005 5:54 pm

WHOOOO HOOOOOO!!!!!!

I'm steppin up. I currently have a Canon S1Is and I love it. Really my first camera, all of the pictures in my galleries have been taken with it, but I just have the base model no extras.

A friend of mine wants to get a new camera so he is going to sell me his Canon Digital Rebel. I know that I'm getting into a whole different relm of stuff so if anyone has some input on things I should look out for please let me know. And also, I have know idea about lenses. Which ones would be good for me?? My dad says I should not buy anything because I have no idea what I'm doing and he doesn't want me waisting my $$

Any thoughts on lenses I should buy? Thanks for any feedback

I bought a good budget lens from Sigma, 18-125. Not a pro lens by any means, but reasonable for the money (about $250).
Sigma and Tamron will both be releasing 18-200 lenses over the next few months. If you're looking for a do it all lens, you might wait to consider them.
Here is a link to an excellent forum on Canon lenses.

Look at the Canon 50mm f1.8 II. It runs about $70.00. Great low light sharp lens. I love mine bought it with my Rebel.
Congratulations and enjoy your new camera!
