Another day; another hibiscus bloom.
Three more days of warm weather before a killing, hard freeze.
Today was in the middle 70's.
So, I still have tropicals out on the deck.

Another colourful bird we see now and then in the garden.
This Kingfisher was resting after flying into the glass doors

It's been a crazy October with hibiscuses blooming outdoors.
Every single day, so far this month, new flowers have opened on a wide variety of named plants.
I have more hibiscus in bloom at the same time now than I did all Summer long.

This photo is my "flower of the day" pick for October 14th.
To get ahead of things, (in anticipation for a killing, hard freeze on October 17th), we've been gradually moving those hibiscus - currently not in bloom - into the Solar Room.
However, most of the hibiscus (that are currently in bloom) are still outdoors; providing us with October color in a drab landscape.
Sadly, it will soon be time to bring all of these other hibiscuses (and my petunias) indoors, too. That will then be the end of outdoors growing season for us. One or two more nights at most.

A Favorite

With a record setting hard freeze of 22 degrees (or lower) predicted for Monday night, this will be my last photo of this hibiscus outside this year. It has bloomed every single day (except for 4) during the past 5 months; often putting out 8 or 9 flowers at a time. It's also currently still full of buds. Hope it does as well indoors as it has outside for me. This Winter will be its first Winter.

My Last Hibiscus Outside

A record breaking, killing, hard freeze (22 degrees Farhanheit or -5.5 Celcius) is expected overnight. From Summerlike temperatures, we'll suddenly be getting mid December weather in mid October. Glad that my warm weather plants (October color) & I were able to enjoy the warm October weather until now.
