Weekly Informal Challenge 187: "Living Poetry"

Post Thu Nov 07, 2013 10:45 pm

Weekly Informal Challenge number 187 is "Living Poetry":

Thank you so much Lynn H. for this challenge theme. The Weekly Informal Challenge theme is "Living Poetry". Let your mind "wander" as you pair verse with vision. Please keep it fresh. Remember (most of all) HAVE FUN. :D

Lynn said, "Choose your favorite poem and try to represent a line of it visually." (Idea: Many lyrics are pure poetry)

Heart Full of Soul

"Sick at heart and lonely
Deep in dark despair
Thinking one thought only
"Where is she, tell me where?"

Not strictly living except in the heart of we Australians who
cherish the words of A.B.Patterson...Banjo as he was known
who wrote about a time and a place that today is still a part of
"The High Country"
I have attached a Youtube video of the movie clip showing the ride
that is set to the poem which you hear throughout.
This colt is not out of "Old Regret" but he could have been :D

Mr. Moonlight - written by Roy Lee Johnson and sung by the Beatles

Definitely NOT a poem I like, but the photo is a similar to the one I am using for my Beatles theme!!

Double Challenge Entry ~ Influential Music/Living Poetry

The Velvet Underground’s founder and chief songwriter, Lou Reed, was an English major in college who took creative writing classes (he would later even use one of the short stories he wrote in college as the basis for an experimental Velvet’s song called “The Gift”); its name was appropriated from the cover of an obscure novel (about kinky sex); its first album featured one song dedicated to a contemporary poet and another based on a nineteenth-century novel by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch; and Sterling Morrison, its lead guitarist and another English major, would go on to earn a Ph.D. in literature from the University of Texas after the band’s demise. Indeed, as Morrison once said, “we were quite intelligent. I’m sure we were the most highly scholarshipped band in history.” from http://www.poetryfoundation.org/harriet ... of-poetry/

All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost ~ J. R. R. Tolkien

This is to illustrate the lyrics of "Personal Jesus" by Depeche Mode, performed by Johnny Cash.
