July Challenge Suggestion

Post Fri Jun 28, 2013 2:46 pm

I just posted the Weekly Challenge "The Place I Live" for this week, and thought it might also be a fun challenge for the month. 31 unique images of the place we live in the manner of the Japanese Ukiyo-e print series, of which a well known one is Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/36_Views_of_Mount_Fuji_(Hokusai).

Instead we would have 31 Views of San Diego, or Bamberg, or Dunedin, or Melbourne, or Nashville, etc. I think you get the "picture".

Just a suggestion. :D

I like this idea, Walter. I'd love to see more of where other pbasers live.

I will do this as best I can. First of all, we get two hours of sun a day and then rain. Secondly, I will apply a broader brush of the county I live in. I'm in a rural area and I am not broadcasting where I live on the internet. Sorry. Hopefully, no one will ever figure out where I am by the photos I post. I know that's kind of against the whole idea of the challenge but it will be challenge for me to make my location unrecognizable. :)

I understand your concerns Karen and I share them. I should have emphasized "the AREA I live in" when I posted the idea. I did do this when I posted the challenge, and I used the two Japanese Print series as examples of describing an area by choosing a series of viewpoints.

I should have looked at the link. I really don't have any accessible landmarks that I could do 31 photos of. Even if it wasn't raining all the time. If people are okay with me just taking photos of areas of the county I live in then I'll join. They may even be close ups of things. I live in a rural area where anything interesting is going to be a fairly long drive.

The images need not be landmarks Karen. In fact one of the examples I used "Thity-Six View of Mt. Fuji" is all of the same subject seen from different viewpoints, etc. You could post 31 macros, food shots, waterfalls, trees, cows, etc. or a combination of them. All the images need to be is in you area. :D
