This was my Special Place in the Summer's when I was a child. I could row the boat out there and sit or fish for hours just enjoying the breeze and scenery. Like my own private little island.
And now my son is beginning to feel the same way, although I was with him for this visit. Enjoying a root-beer and picnic lunch while taking it all in.
In this photo the island is lost in the shadow of the tree line across the lake, barely visible. But the view is from a "larger" special place to me. It was taken in front of the little red cottage my father built, now known to my kids as Grandma's lake house. It's odd that I don't have many photos of the building itself. I'll have to attend to that...
