I like this idea but can you elaborate a bit? Are you talking mostly B&W with just a bit of color (I'm sure that there's a name for this but I don't know it) or just colorful subjects???

Not necessarily B&W and/or PS'd. In such a dark month, just a little splash of colour is sometimes hard to find and I do look for those little bright things that jump out because of their colour. ..Here are a few examples of images I've taken in past winters...http://www.pbase.com/jeanb/image/108209782

and this one just a couple of weeks ago

After the holiday letdown and the dark days ahead (at least, for those of us in the N. hemisphere), I'm sure it would do all of us good to look for bright and colourful items. A whole month of looking for colour would be very uplifting!

Jean is really swaying me over to her side as it can be gloomy here in Rochester too with grey skies and snow. I know that a lot of you expressed interest in patterns and shapes and some of you expressed interest in still lifes which can be very colorful. I wonder if we can somehow combine the two....patterns and shapes with a splash of color or do an either/or. Thoughts?

I won't be able to join you once again, and it also does not look good for the next few months either. I am a volunteer at the Maritime Museum of San Diego and am photographing all of the inventory of the museum which consists of thousands of ship models, nautical instruments, uniforms, plaques, awards, etc. This is very time consuming work and it will not leave me with enough spare time to participate in the challenges. I have enjoyed the challenges over the last few years and will miss doing them and the camaraderie with all of you. I hope to stay in touch with many of you and I hope you have a great time with the Challenges in 2012. A Happy, healthy, prosperous and peaceful New Year to you all.

All the Best,

Walter
