My suggestion is to do the "7 Elements of Art" This one would include your suggestions, Janice.
We would title our entry to show which Element is represented. The 7 Elements are:

1 Texture
2 Form (Form is considered three-dimensional showing height, width and depth)
3 Space (Space refers to the distances or areas around, between or within components of the subject)
4 Line (As an art element, line pertains to the use of various marks, outlines and implied lines)
5 Shape (Shapes can be geometric (e.g.: square, circle, triangle, hexagon, etc.) or organic (such as the shape of a puddle, blob, leaf, boomerang, etc.) in nature)
6 Color
7 Value (Value, or tone, refers to the use of light and dark, shade and highlight, in an artwork. Black-and-white photography depends entirely on value to define its subjects. Value is directly related to contrast)

Since I suggested the September challenge, I'll go along with whatever you all decide.

I'm a newbie to the challenges so I'm not really sure how they're decided but I like the 7 Elements of Art. Janice's suggestion is a good one too. I think it the more options you have, the easier it is to get photos. What can I say? I'm lazy. :)

Hello all,

Being French I do not find anywhere in the French references something from Masters speaking about "7 elements of art".
I'm curious, could you tell me who elaborated this list of 7 elements ?
Maybe, I'm so much ignorant..?!?

All my best,
Marielou

Hi Marielou! The elements are universal, for all art from all countries. Here is a little bit of information - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elements_of_art
If you look in Google or some Internet search, you will find some information in French too. Let me know if I can help.
Hugs,
LYNN

In french, ce dont vous avez besoin, ce sont les éléments fondamentaux de l'art : la ligne, la forme, la valeur, la texture, la couleur et l'espace.
