I am not a PS fan, but I have to admit that some PS-processed photos can
only be decribed by WOW.
However, I know nothing about Photo Shop. Any good book on the topic
of using PS to enhance pictures?
Any suggestion is appreciated.

i've got Martin Evening's "Adobe Photoshop for Photographers" which is really helpful. You might want to start with something a bit more basic, but if you enjoy working with PS i would recommend it.

There is a book out by Gregory Georges called "50 Fast Digital Photo Techniques" which will help you with P/S or P/S Elements, Ulead's PhotoImpact, Jasc's Paintshop Pro, & Corel Photo-Paint (but it focuses primarily on Adobe)
It's quite helpful

I agree with the others. I bought The Photo Elements book by Scott Kelby. Great book.

Gregory Georges also has a book focused on PS7 - 50 Fast Photoshop 7 techniques which I found to be a good intro. I also endorse the Scott Kelby recommendation. I am getting good value from The Adobe Photoshop CS Book for Digital Photographers. Even though I have not ugrapded from PS7 yet, there is a lot of good content in there.
