montage PaD's

would someone give a hint as to how to go about making montages in PhotoShop CS. Not asking for a detailed primer or a "read the book." Just point me in the right direction if you would be so kind. Are there actions available which will do it?

I've only done a few, but here's how to get started. Say you want to combine four pictures. Figure out how big an area you would need for all four, then open a blank file that's that size. Make it the same resolution as the 4 pix (& they should all be the same). Then open the 4 files and drag each one into the blank file. Each one will be a separate layer that you can move around. You can color the background layer, texturize it, whatever. Just experiment!! You will come up with your own technique.
