Today all shops and commercial outlets will close here in Dublin to allow people the time to attend religious services, and spend time with their families. This image reminded me to make sure to wish a well-deserved rest to every shop assistant and salesperson I might meet today.

Maaike explained the significance of Sinterklaas earlier in the month. Here in Ireland his Santa relation is all-important on Christmas Eve and the morning of Christmas Day for children. This image is from a little tree hanging one of my daughters made when she was 11 years old. Happy Christmas to all who have made this cultural heritage topic so very interesting and informative.
