anyone wants to share what programs use for resizing images?

I use photoshop but take long time. have to do each image separately

I wish I can find better programs.

Here is what I tried based on what I read here that I actually understood. I took a photo, kept the original resolution, resized it to 800 x 600 and saved at 8 jpg quality. Next I took the same photo and changed the resolution to 72 dpi which resized it to 768 x 576 and saved at 12 jpg quality. They look virtually the same at screen size. The 800 x 600 is 238 kb and the 72 dpi is 750 kb.

However, when enlarged to 300%, the one saved at 72 dpi showed significant artifacting.
