Idea for a PAD?has it already been done?

Post Tue Mar 30, 2004 9:38 pm

Hi All,
I have only recently got into photography and am a complete amateur still struggling to get to grips with my new cam! Anyway i have spent lots of time looking at the amazing pics here expecially the PAD galleries, Very inspirational and amazing pics, so congrats to all who currently do it!

Anyway i have decided i would like to take part and have been thinking when to start, when suddenly i thought...hold on, the wife is pregnant and due in 6 weeks, so why not start on the day the baby is born and record his first year day by day in pictures.....

My question is what do you current Pad people think of the idea and has it been done before and if so does anyone have a link to the PAD gallery so i can take a peek (i have searched but to no avail!)?

I have to say i am quite excited about this Photo a day idea and can't wait to get started, but would just do random stuff if you guys thought it wasnt a great idea. Any thoughts and tips you have on this idea would be much appreciated as i have no clue as to what doing this would be like and you all have much more experience...

Best regards

Danny

Hi,

PADer Steve Roden has been doing something very similar with his new baby. Here's the link for Month5, but he has months 1 to 4 there also!

I think it would be a good idea to try and do a PAD of various subjects alongside this. In another words, two distinct projects.

When I started PAD I was very apprehensive about how I would fare, especuially in finding diverse subjects during my lunch hour. I then discovered I could do indoor shots with spotlights etc. and the whole thing was a learning process.

If you are unsure, why not start doing a 'private' PAD and see how you get on for a couple of weeks. You could then upload all those images once you have proved that such a project is attainable for you.

All the best,
Ray

Regardless of whether or not you decide to make a PAD out of it, I think it'd be beneficial to carry around your camera every day, like it's your baby! Never know what'll happen!

Danny,
Taking a picture a day of your baby would be PRICELESS!!
My kids, who are now grown and on their own, thank me continuously for recording their childhood through photographs.
You'll never regret it and will find it amazing how much people change on a daily basis. It's not noticable until you go back and look at today's photo versus one from 6 months ago.

Good Luck!!
